What is Yes! to the Journey of a Lifetime about?
It's about Love, presence and personal transformation
- living the intimate discovery of more than we now
know. It's about opening to the Love inherent within
and around us, actively choosing to be in relationship
with the Mystery of Life.
The stories, while inspired in Cuzco, Peru, Machu
Picchu and Lake Titicaca, invite your personal
reflection on the power of Love, Choice, Presence
and Curiosity. Topics include travel, courage, humility,
confidence, personal growth, Nature, focus, receptivity,
diversity, conflict, self- reflection, time, healing, angels,
dream, intuition, family and God.
What kind of book is it?
It's an inspirational, spiritual book of 25 stories which
you can read sequentially or separately, in any order,
for your own personal reflection, growth and
transformation.

Where did you get the idea for this book?
While ascending the mountain overlooking Machu Picchu I experienced a quick, unbidden impression of the book itself, both in content and format. Because the idea occurred so simply, unwillfully, I had a sense we could make a heart-centered, intelligent work that would be both useful and a pleasure to create.
Why did you write this book?
I wrote it as a source of inspiration and reflection for people in their own journeys. It’s my hope to enliven the Love within us in a way that's joyous, thoughtful and grounded with sound psychology, relationship and leadership principles. I also hope we come to be more comfortable in being not only smart, skilled, logical and in action, but also mystical, magical, and joyously receptive and generous. |

How do you know Love exists?
Like anyone else, I know Love through an inner sense,
experience and observation. And while I experience
Love, coming to know Love is also an eternal
discovery. John O’Donahue, author of Anam Cara,
says it beautifully when he speaks of knowing someone
so well we realize we don’t know them at all. I think
it’s this way with Love, too.
What is your meaning of the Divine, the Mystery
in Life?
I’m speaking of the life force that animates us,
something that's part of us, and more than us. We
know it by many names – Nature, God/Goddess, the
Beloved, Universal Energy, Oneness, Light – these
and as many more names as we may each have for
Love, in and through all of life, including everyone,
everything.
Is this a religious book?
No. It’s about personal transformation and the power
of our choosing to discover, experience and act from
and with Love. Love is part of and more than any one
religion. This book respects all peoples’ spiritual
beliefs.
|
What three core principles underly these stories?
Love is within and through everyone and everything.
It includes us, and is more than us, even the things we find most difficult.
It is an infinite resource to all.
Love is available by focusing inside.
Love is within, constantly inviting us to step beyond what we now know to experience more
Love.
Choice is our gift.
To experience Love and act from it, or not, is our choice.

Where is Machu Picchu? And what is it?
Machu Picchu is in Peru, located off a remote road
on steep terrain surrounded by a majesty of
mountains, hidden deep within the clouds high
above the Uramamba River. It was built in 460-70
as a royal and spiritual retreat, and is considered
one of the world’s most exquisite examples of
architecture blended harmoniously with Nature.
Where is Lake Titicaca? And what is it?
Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake on earth
and straddles between Peru and Bolivia. In ancient
mythologies, it was considered the origin of the
world, as it is said that from her depths,
Wiracocha, the sun god, called forth the first Inca.
The Incas are said to have set out from Lake
Titicaca to the Sacred Valley, eventually arriving in Cuzco, Peru, the capital of the Incan Empire.

|
The Andean people still refer to Lake Titicaca as ‘The Sacred Lake’. Even today, those who
depend on the lake make offerings to her, and to Mother Earth (Pachamama), thanking her for
the rain, asking for mild climates, safe passage across her waters, the blessings of continued reeds to build boats, and fish to feed her people.

How is the condor related to Incan mythology?
The ancient Incas believed they were born of the stars, and that upon dying they returned to
the stars across the Milky Way on the wings of the condor. I hope that as we further our
personal growth, opening to the Light within and around us, learning from one another and
those who have gone before us, we too will soar with Love. Photographs on this page courtesy of Tony Dickinson.
